Our First PATH Committee Blog

In 2006, realizing that adult learners needed assistance with identifying a pathway and eliminating barriers encountered between adult education and post-secondary opportunities, the Postsecondary Awareness: Transition to Higher Education (PATH) Committee was formed. This committee is made up of adult, correctional, community college, and workforce educators and administrators whose primary goal is the development of an educated and skilled workforce within the South Texas area.

For more information about PATH, please visit our website at www.esc20.net/path, which is currently under construction. We will post when it is live!

Our goal for this blog is to spark conversation and cultivate relationships between adult education, community college, and workforce partners. The format will be informative, followed by a question on the topic and your answers/comments.

With that, we ask you: What do you want to learn about successfully transitioning adult education students (GED or ESL) into higher education?

  1. I want to understand the gap between GED and the college entrance exam. This information will allow our teachers to teach beyond the GED at a level where our students can be successful on Accuplacer and enter directly into college-credit courses.
